Admission Requirements
What you need to apply to Tsinghua University as an international student.
- Citizenship & EligibilityApplicants must be foreign citizens in good physical and mental health, friendly to China, and hold a valid high school graduation certificate. Applicants must be aged 18 or above by September 1, 2026.
- Academic RequirementsOutstanding academic performance evidenced by high school transcripts, a national or regional graduation/matriculation examination certificate and results of international standard tests such as SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB or CSCA.
- English-Taught ProgramsA high level of English proficiency is required. Applicants whose native language is not English must submit an official English test report such as TOEFL or IELTS. Proof of Chinese proficiency is not required.
- Chinese-English Taught ProgramsHSK Level 5 or above with scores above 60 in Listening, Reading and Writing. Applicants with HSK Level 4 (above 60 in each category) may be admitted but must reach HSK Level 5 within their first academic year. Strong English proficiency is also required.
- Application Deadlines (2026 Intake)First round: September 30, 2025 – November 28, 2025 (the only round for Design and Fine Arts). Second round and English-taught programs: November 29, 2025 – February 28, 2026 (Beijing Time).
- Application ProcessCreate an account in the Online Application System, complete the application form within the designated period, upload all required documents and pay the non-refundable CNY 800 application fee online before submitting.
- Comprehensive EvaluationApplications first undergo document screening; those who pass are invited to a Comprehensive Assessment. Arts Division (Design & Fine Arts) and Architecture Division applicants must also complete a portfolio review.
- Admission & Visa DocumentsAdmission decisions are based on a holistic evaluation of academic performance, language proficiency, supporting materials and assessment results. Admitted students receive the Admission Notice, JW202 form and Physical Examination Record Form.
